Why Is It Done?
Ceramic veneers are used for cosmetic and minor restorative reasons. Dentists recommend them to:
1. Cover discolored or stained teeth that don’t respond to whitening
2. Repair chipped, cracked, or worn down teeth
3. Correct mildly crooked or misshapen teeth
4. Close small gaps between teeth
5. Improve overall smile aesthetics
How Is It Done?
The procedure is typically performed in 3–4 steps:
1. Initial Consultation
The dentist examines your teeth and discusses your goals.
X-rays or digital scans may be taken.
A treatment plan is created.
2. Tooth Preparation
A thin layer (about 0.3–0.7 mm) of enamel is removed from the front surface of each tooth.
Impressions (molds or digital scans) are taken.
Temporary veneers may be placed to protect the teeth.
3. Fabrication
The impressions are sent to a dental lab where the custom ceramic veneers are made.
This usually takes 1 week.
4. Bonding (Final Placement)
The temporary veneers are removed.
The ceramic veneers are tried on for fit and color
After approval, they are permanently bonded to your teeth using special dental cement and cured with a light.
How Many Visits Are Required?
Typically, 2 to 3 visits are needed:
First Visit: Consultation, X-rays, and planning.
Second Visit: Tooth preparation and impressions.
Third Visit: Veneer placement (after the lab fabricates them).
A 4th visit may be scheduled for a follow-up to check bite and comfort
